When Your Best Friend Goes to War: Using friendship, conflict, teenage insecurity and romance to teach history

Log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

We don’t learn history if we don’t care. We can induce teens to care by creating strong and focused emotional connections between the learner and the subject via Window to Yesterday -- short, historically accurate adventure novels written with teenage input (with relatable characters the same age as the learners) that are packed with Jewish history and Judaism. Through humor and teen romance, your students will learn about transformative events in our past. Ancient Jewish answers to tough “life issues” can help guide teens today. In this session, we’ll cover specific examples and methods to emotionally connect your learners to our ancestors and to see themselves as links in our collective story.
