Meneket Rivka: Developing a Spiritual Life Course for Women based on the teachings of Rivka bat Me’ir Tiktiner

Log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

This course is derived from the teachings of Rivka Tiktiner, author of the first Yiddish book authored by a Jewish woman for consumption by Jewish women. “Meneket Rivkah: A Manual of Wisdom and Piety for Jewish Women,” appeared in 1609 in Prague, and contains beautiful lessons about the Mussar of family life. Based on Rivkah’s teachings and primary sources, I have designed lessons for adult learners (primarily women) to explore her thinking and adapt to modern life the ethics of separating and honoring parents, finding a mate, dealing with in-laws, educating children, and living an ethical life at home and in community, while adapting those lessons to modern family life.
