Workshop Evaluation
A Taste of Yiddish is an educational, fun, and interesting look at the history of Yiddish, its transition from an everyday spoken language to something more boutique, and its role in the Jewish world today. Yiddish is a language that was on the verge of extermination following the Holocaust but has persevered as a language of song, humour, stories, plays, jokes, and culture. The presentation will include a beginners Yiddish lesson so that attendees can begin speaking right away as well as offer resources and next-steps for those who wish to pursue the topic further. Participants will also come away with a framework to introduce Yiddish language and culture to their classes, along with a selection of resources to support classroom teaching.
