Visual T’filah: Ancient Roots, Modern Tech

Log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

Visual T’filah is a way to enhance prayer, helping worshipers find new or deeper meaning in liturgy. It utilizes contemporary technology such as projectors and screens—or sharing screen during remote services—to display liturgy for the community with art and other visual imagery. More than just a “PowerPoint service,” Visual T’filah draws on elements from Jewish history and tradition, including art and visual awe in worship spaces as well as liturgical creativity and dynamic prayer. This session explores the historical antecedents that lead naturally to the creation and use of digital prayer technologies; how to use VT for in-person, streaming, or hybrid services; and how to engage students or members of the community of any age in the creation of Visual Iyyunim*. * The photos, art, or visual images used to provide a deeper connection to prayer content
